Which Brand is Right for You?

We offer 4-zone configurations across three distinct brands to match every budget and climate need.

Cooper & Hunter

The Premium Choice. Features "Hyper Heat" (100% heat at 5°F), highest SEER2 ratings (up to 25), and 7-year compressor warranties. Best for primary heating in Northern climates.

Olmo

The Smart Balance. Excellent energy efficiency and reliability at a mid-range price point. Manufactured by the same parent company, sharing many high-tech components.

Bravo

The Value Leader. Solid, reliable cooling and heating performance for moderate climates or rental properties. A cost-effective solution for whole-home comfort.

Advanced Features & Benefits

Beyond basic cooling, these systems offer advanced air treatment and user control.

  • Inverter Technology
Variable speed compressors adjust continuously, reducing energy consumption by up to 40% compared to standard ACs.
  • Independent Thermostats
Set the master bedroom to 68°F and the living room to 74°F simultaneously (Note: All units must be in same mode: Heat or Cool).
  • Air Filtration & Dehumidification
Washable filters capture dust and pollen, while "Dry Mode" removes excess moisture without over-cooling the room.

📐 4-Zone Sizing & Configuration Guide

Proper sizing is key to efficiency. A "4-Zone System" usually refers to the outdoor unit capacity (Total BTU) and the number of ports available.

Typical Room Allocation

Room Type Rec. BTU Coverage (Est.)
Small Bedroom / Office 9,000 BTU 150 - 350 sq. ft.
Master Bedroom 12,000 BTU 350 - 500 sq. ft.
Living / Dining Area 18,000 BTU 500 - 750 sq. ft.

Popular 4-Zone Mixes

  • 4 Bedrooms 9k + 9k + 9k + 9k
  • 3 Beds + 1 Living 9k + 9k + 12k + 18k
  • 2 Large Areas + 2 Beds 12k + 12k + 12k + 12k

System Capacity Reference (BTU to Tonnage)

BTU Capacity Tonnage
36,000 BTU 3 TON
42,000 BTU 3.5 TON
48,000 BTU 4 TON
55,000 BTU 4.58 TON
60,000 BTU 5 TON
Did you know? You can "oversize" the indoor units slightly. A 36k outdoor unit can typically handle up to 48k of connected indoor capacity because rare do all rooms need peak power at the exact same moment.

⚡ Electrical & Installation Snapshot

Planning your project? Here are the critical technical details you need to know before installation.

Electrical Power

Voltage: 208-230V (Single Phase)

Breaker Size: Typically 30A to 45A (Double Pole) depending on total BTU. Check spec sheet.

Line Sets & Wiring

Communication: 14/4 Stranded wire connects indoor units to outdoor unit.

Piping: Insulated copper line sets required for each indoor unit run.

Condensate Drain

Gravity Drain: Each indoor unit generates water in cooling/dry mode. Must drain outside or to a pump.

Frequently Asked Questions

🆚 Cooper & Hunter vs. Olmo vs. Bravo: Which should I choose?
Cooper & Hunter is the premium tier, offering the best cold-weather performance (Hyper Heat), highest efficiency, and longest warranties. Olmo is a mid-tier "sister brand" that offers high reliability and great specs at a lower cost. Bravo is the entry-level option, providing reliable standard heating and cooling for budget-conscious buyers or milder climates.
🔥 Do I need "Hyper Heat"?
If you live in a region where temperatures drop below 20°F and this system is your primary heat source, yes. Hyper Heat models maintain 100% capacity down to 5°F and operate down to -22°F. For supplemental heat or milder climates, standard pumps (Olmo/Bravo) are sufficient.
🔌 Do I have to install all 4 indoor units at once?
Generally, yes. These multi-zone condensers are designed to operate with a specific minimum load. It is recommended to install all connected units to ensure the system pressure and efficiency remain balanced.
📱 Can I control each room independently?
Yes! This is the main benefit. Each of the 4 indoor units comes with its own remote (and often Wi-Fi app control). You can turn one unit off, set another to 70°F, and another to 74°F. Note: All units must be in the same mode (all Cool or all Heat) at the same time.
🛠️ What maintenance is required?
Clean the air filters in each indoor unit every 2 weeks to maintain airflow and efficiency. Professionally clean the coils and check refrigerant levels annually. Keep the outdoor unit free of leaves and snow.
💵 Are there tax credits available?
Yes. Many Cooper & Hunter and Olmo 4-zone models are ENERGY STAR® certified and meet the high SEER2/HSPF2 requirements for the 25C Federal Tax Credit, potentially saving you 30% of project costs (up to $2,000/year). Always check the specific AHRI certificate of the model you buy.
